Aligning with the Seasons: A Return to Your Natural Rhythm

cyclical living wheel of the year Jun 30, 2025
seasonal living for women

Have you ever noticed how your energy shifts with the seasons?

How spring pulls you into motion with its soft winds and new growth…

How summer opens your heart and invites you to bask in warmth…

How autumn draws you inward to reflect and let go…

And how winter cradles you in stillness, whispering rest…

These aren’t just poetic observations—they’re ancient truths your body remembers.

In our fast-paced world, we’re often taught to keep going, producing, achieving—no matter what the earth is doing outside our window. But the natural world offers a wiser way. One that honors cycles over schedules and rhythm over rigidity.

When you begin to align your life with the seasons, everything shifts.

Spring invites clarity and new beginnings.

This is a time to plant seeds—both literally and metaphorically. Clean your space. Set intentions. Begin again.

Summer invites expression and expansion.

Let yourself be seen. Create boldly. Celebrate your fullness. This is the season of standing in your light.

Autumn invites reflection and release.

What is ready to fall away? What have you harvested this year? Let go and make space for what truly matters.

Winter invites deep rest and dreaming.

Turn inward. Tend your roots. Listen to your inner voice. Rest is sacred here—it prepares the soil for what’s to come.

Living with the seasons means aligning your energy and actions with the pulse of the natural world around you.

There are other cycles too that beautifully and organically overlap with the seasons that we experience internally and externally. Cycles like the moon cycle, the menstrual cycle, the creative cycle and the feminine life cycle.

I’ve given you a brief description of these below to gently guide you further.

The Moon Cycle

The moon moves through four major phases: New Moon, Waxing Moon, Full Moon and Waning Moon. As lunar beings, we naturally feel the ebb and flow of these phases in our emotions, bodies, and clarity. Living with the moon deepens intuition and brings a sacred rhythm back to everyday life.

The Menstrual Cycle

The menstrual cycle is a mirror of the Earth’s seasons, moving through four phases: menstruation (inner winter), follicular (inner spring), ovulation (inner summer), and luteal (inner autumn). Each phase carries its own gifts—intuition, energy, connection, creativity, and discernment. Honouring this cycle allows women to reclaim their power, tune into their bodies, and live in harmony with their inner tides.

The Creative Cycle

Creativity also moves in cycles: We receive the ideas (dreaming), we feel the spark (inspiration), we take action (creation), we feel the need for changes and mastery (refinement), we finish and share (integration). Honouring this cycle allows ideas and offerings to be birthed in alignment, without force or burnout.

The Feminine Life Cycle

The feminine human journey is cyclical: Maiden, Mother, Wise Woman and Crone. We begin in youth and curiosity, move through nurturing and growth, enter deep wisdom and transformation, and return to sacred stillness and soul knowing. Each life phase is a rite of passage and holds its own beauty, power, and purpose.

So, if you were to look to the season of summer to gently guide your life then you would see themes like:

  • Nature being in full bloom with a lot of outward energy—as you are as well
  • Other parts of the cycles that are energetically similar like ovulation, full moon, doing/sharing your work and the mother archetype aligning with ease
  • The energy of summer is all about connection, visibility, leadership and pleasure
  • Some practices you can try are celebration ceremonies, full moon ceremonies, sun bathing, creative expression

How to Begin Living Seasonally

To switch from where you are currently to a more seasonal alignment it’s so important to take things slow.

Living in alignment with the seasons is an intuitive and innate practice within us that is designed to be second nature. The main issue with our culture today is that we’ve been taught to override this natural instinct and push through no matter what. I’m here to tell you to stop that silliness (yes, it is silly!) and let your body, mind and soul slow down enough to experience how the seasons want to flow through you and your life.

Listen. Soften. Remember.

You don’t need to overhaul your life. Start with simple shifts:

  • Tune into how you feel as the seasons change
  • Adjust your food, rest, and routines to meet the moment.
  • Journal with seasonal prompts
  • Celebrate the turning points—solstices, equinoxes, and cross-quarter days
  • Most importantly: listen to your body. She’s a compass. She knows.

When we return to the rhythm of the earth, we remember who we are.

Wild. Sacred. Whole.
